Run Silent, Run Deep: Big push at work.

Just got back from learning to scuba in Mexico – it was awesome.  I got my PADI open water certification and stayed at a dive hotel in Cozumel.   Even though Cozumel is still recovering from it’s hurricane double header in 2005, the reefs and marine life were stunning.  I wouldn’t know any better, but I was impressed with what I saw.

That would include green and spotted moray eels, lobsters, crabs, craploads of different fish, shark, barracuda, and enormous turtles.   I got to swim down to 80 feet, swim through coral arches and tubes, drift dive and something even more special for my last dive.   Night Diving!  It’s scarier and weirder.  Phytoplankton fluoresces around you and your bubbles in the dark.

Going into a big push on a very important project for work over the next few weeks to month so I’ll be writing less frequently.  Keep in touch, peeps – and if anyone wants to go diving, let me know!

But wait, there's more

  • Just kidding, nothing's related to this.

  1. Congratulations on the SCUBA certification! I understand that with new technologies and materials SCUBA gear is actually very wearable, breathable, and even looks great in the office. I dare you! S.C.I.T.O.B.A???

  2. I only own the mask, fins, and snorkel at this time. I know it’s a disappointment for all the fantasies of me in the office wearing a wetsuit.

The gear is really easy. SCUBA at my skill level is really a matter of just watching your air and your dive computer. The rest is just remembering to breathe!
